"In my Room", Charcoal, 11.5 x 15, 2024 | This piece is based off of a photograph of my room, I chose this because I wanted to capture the feeling of loneliness. I spend the vast majority of my time in my bedroom alone creating art and I wanted this piece to communicate that to the viewer. I sketched my outline in a thin layer of white charcoal and began to shade in my lightest values. I used a subtractive method for the darker values and blended everything with a blending stump.
"Through my Eyes", Colored Pencil, 9.5 x 17, 2024 | This piece is colored pencil and it is one-to-one copy of a photo of my eye. I have always thought of eyes as the window to the soul so I wanted to capture as much emotion as i could.
"Untitled", Charcoal, 22 x 17.5, 2024 | This is a gridded charcoal drawing of a tree at my house. I chose to complete this in charcoal rather than in color in order to capture the gloomy weather outside.
"Untitled", Colored Pencil, 12 x 12, 2024 | This piece is colored pencil and white fine liner. The candy is spread out to emphasize the shadows and highlights in the wrappers.
"Untitled", Charcoal, 19 x 23.5, 2024 | I wanted to explore a slightly different art style, rather than doing realism I chose to go for more of an illustrative style.
"Untitled", Graphite, 19 x 23.5, 2024 | Graphite on Bristol paper. I chose to give the shelves a fisheye quality to draw your attention to all the small details on the books.
